Ballarat, 1 September 2011

Adding to the already impressive lineup announced for Linux Conference Australia (LCA), the Multimedia and Music Miniconf has now been confirmed. Multimedia encompasses a wide gamut of tasks, including video and sound capture, recording, composition, playback and search. Rapidly evolving hardware platforms and network technologies are now delivering previously unattainable functionality to the lay user - providing limitless opportunities for exploring creativity regardless of location.

Organiser Jonathan Woithe was enthusiastic about the Multimedia and Music Miniconf being selected from a competitive field of proposals. "There are many exciting and unique open source programs available to foster multimedia and music creation and playback under Linux. It's fantastic to have the opportunity to highlight these at one of the world's premier Linux conferences!"

Submissions for presentations or short tutorials related to Music and Multimedia on Linux and other open source platforms are now warmly welcomed. First time presenters are strongly encouraged to apply.

For more information please refer to the Miniconf site. Calls for Papers (CfP) are also open.

Miniconfs - miniature conferences - are community-organised sessions designed to bring together like-minded delegates with interests in a specific field. They are run within the framework of the broader event, and provide excellent opportunities for professional networking and developing presentation experience.

LCA will be held 16th-20th January 2012 in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. http://lcaunderthestars.org.au and @linuxconfau on Twitter and Identica.
